Quick clarification for Invisible Woman - Overcoming Malice

When blocking, Invisible Woman deals damage equal to her defense.

Does this ability replace her A value with her current D while blocking?

OR

Would this be considered ability damage, where the D value damage is dealt separately from her A?

This is not ability damage. Invisible Woman would replace her A value with her D value.

For example, Invisible Woman on level 3, with no D value bonuses applied, would deal 5 combat damage to the attacker she is blocking. If a player also has an active Agent Brand: Alpha Flight die, this level 3 Invisible Woman would deal 6 combat damage.
