Situation:

I've rolled a Pick Your Battles action die and attack with Aunt May - Caring Aunt. Which of the following statements is true:

(1) My opponent can block Aunt May with either a shield character OR a Sidekick - because Aunt May being an Ally counts as a Sidekick as well as being a shield type character die.

(2) My opponent can only block Aunt May with a shield character Ally die (i.e. another Aunt May die) - because of the Pick Your Battles BAC effect, and Aunt May is both a shield character and counts as a Sidekick.

Relevant Cards:
Pick Your Battles BAC:
Each of your characters can only be blocked by opposing characters of the same energy type and your Sidekicks can only be blocked by Sidekicks.

Aunt May - Caring Aunt:
Ally (Aunt May counts as a Sidekick in the field zone.)
Aftershock - Spin 1 of your non-[Villain] characters up 1 level or spin Spider-Man to level 3.

Thank you for your support.

Your opponent can block Aunt May with either a Shield character OR a Sidekick, since Aunt May counts as both of those.

Similarly, Crossover character dice, which have multiple energy types, may block or be blocked by character dice that match at least one of their energy types. For example, a Bolt/Mask character could block a Fist/Mask character.
