General - Suggested Build Rules

Postby trooperrich » Tue Nov 04, 2014 10:19 pm

Can you please clarify the new suggested build rules for tournament play.

When playing a ship with a base cost of 43 points or more do you get 8 additional total points to add upgrades AND a captain or is it up to 8 points for upgrades PLUS a captain of any value?

If the later is correct does adding an admiral add to the cost of the captain or does it add to the cost of the ship?

If the base cost of your ship is 43 points or more you may use upto 8 points to pay for Upgrades and/or a Captain.

With ships that cost 43+ points, can I equip Elite Talent upgrades? I notice they're conspicuously absent from the list of upgrades which can be purchased with those 8 points.

So for a total of 51 points or 58 points?

Yes, you may use the additional 8 points to purchase any upgrades and/or captain for your ship.

If your ship's base value is 43 Fleet Points you could spend up to 51 Fleet Points by adding 8 Points for upgrades and/or a Captain.
If your ship's base value is 50 Fleet Points you could spend up to 58 Fleet Points by adding 8 Points for upgrades and/or a Captain.

Would that include admiral's, who in the admiral slot are neither captains nor upgrades?

Yes, the 8 points could also be used to purchase an Admiral on your ship.

Moved from another thread:

Are we to include the cost of a resource, such as a flag ship, in the 50 point cap?

For example, under the new rules, a Borg Queen Vessel Prime, with a flagship and no captain/upgrades would cost 52 Squad Points. Does that mean it is "over" the limit, or does that mean it counts as a ship that costs 52 SP, and we are therefore able to add another 8 SP in captain/upgrades?

Yes include the cost of the resources Flagship, Fleet Captain, Officer Cards, and Skilled Helmsman in the 50 point cap.

So if you are running the 4th Division Battleship (36 FP) you can add the Flagship Resource (10 FP) and up to 4 Fleet Points of Upgrades/Captain/Admiral to your ship.

The Queen Vessel Prime (42 FP) can take 8 points of Upgrades/Captain/Admiral/Resource. The Flagship Resource is 10 Fleet Points. So the Queen Vessel Prime cannot be equipped with a Flagship.
