General - Mines, Movement, and Combat Phases

Postby penguinbonaparte » Mon Nov 10, 2014 11:17 am

If you lay Antimatter Mines or the Multikinetic Mines on a ship it counts as an attack, and evade tokens can be used. What about if someone movies in and triggers the Multikinetic Mines (which have an AOE effect) on a subsequent turn? Do those ships that have already activated and therefore might have tokens to use for defense also not get to use them because it's the activation phase? Does this apply to cloaking as well?

When mines are laid on a ship it is a special type of attack and the ship may not use evade tokens. Evade tokens may not be spent outside of the combat phase.

So tokens cannot be used even for mine attacks that happen during the combat phase? If I were to drop Multi-Kinetic Mines on top of a ship with a Navigational Deflector for example?

Correct, tokens may not be used when a mine is dropped on a ship during the combat phase.

If Multi-Kinetic Neutronic Mines are triggered and some ships roll defense dice while some others do not, how is the cancelling of attack dice during the "Compare Results" step handled?

Whatever the resolution of the previous question, is it similarly applied to effects like Navigational Deflector?

The Multi-Kinetic Neutronic Mines roll attack dice once and apply those results to each ship individually.

For Example: If the Mines were triggered and 3 ships were in range. You would roll the attack dice and get 2 hits, a critical hit, and a blank.
Each defending ship has 2 hits and a critical hit applied against them.
Ships in range 1 would just take the damage with no defense roll.
Ships at range 2-3 would roll defense dice and cancel the results as normal (hits first, then crits). If one ship rolls 4 evade dice and gets 2 evade results and another rolls 2 dice and gets 1 evade result. The first ship would cancel the 2 hits and only take the critical hit and the second ship would cancel 1 hit and takes a hit and a critical hit.

Navigational Defense Deflector allows you to roll defense dice against mines, any evade results will cancel the mine's dice in the usual order (cancel hits, then crits).
