While a Master Strategist Token is beside your ship:
1) Treat it as if it were an Evade, Scan, Battle Station, or Target Lock token. You may use this token as you would any of these Tokens (see page 10 of the Rules of Play). Remove it from the game if it is spent.
2) During the End Phase, place any unused MST's back beside your ship cards to use again on a later round.
3) When using an MST as a Target Lock Token, you may only spend it to re-roll your attack dice (see page 14). This does not count as having acquired a target lock with regards to secondary weapons (see page 20).
4) Only one Upgrade card can trigger its ability from this Token during the same round (see page 22).
5) On around a ship uses this action that ship may still use an Evade, Scan, Battle Station or Target Lock Action as a free Action, if possible.

1) Do you have to specify which ship is Target Locked when using the MST as a target lock or can it be used against any ship?
2) Can the target lock option on the Master Strategist resource tokens be used to re-roll against cloaked ships or do normal target lock rules apply?
3) If you had tactical officer would he trigger off the Master Strategist Re-roll?
4) If you have a Battle Station token and a Master Strategist token by your ship, Could you use the master strategist token as a second Battle Station or only as an evade, scan or target lock?
5) If you have a Scan Token and a Master Strategist token by your ship and you used the MST as second scan. Would the target ships defense be reduced by 2?

1. No, but note that the Master Strategist Token may not be used for any other purpose except to re-roll your attack dice.
2. Yes, you may re-roll your attack dice against any ship using the Master Strategist Token
3. No, The Tactical Officer keys off the spending of a Target Lock token. The Master Strategist Token is not a Target Lock token.
4. The Master Strategist Token is not limited by the tokens (Battle Stations, Scan, Evade, or Target Lock) that are available to your ship.
5. Yes

If I use the MST as a scan token, but I use no abilities that require a scan token to be spent, dose the MST return to the MST pool?

Once the Master Strategist Token is designated a scan token it may not be used as any other type of token for the rest of the round. At the end of the round remove the Master Strategist Token from the game.

When must I decide to treat the MIT as if it were an Evade, Scan, Battle Station, or Target Lock token?
