HEART OF THE BRIAR PATCH: Blackbriar Thorn can use Poison. He may use it normally, or instead deal 1 penetrating damage to all opposing characters within 5 squares that are occupying hindering terrain.

SMOKE CLOUD: Give this character a power action; place up to 6 hindering terrain markers in distinct, adjacent squares that are all within this character’s range (minimum range value 4). At least one of the terrain markers must be within line of fire when it is placed. The terrain markers remain until the beginning of your next turn. Characters that occupy these terrain markers modify their attack value by -1 unless they can use Smoke Cloud or ignore hindering terrain for line of fire purposes.

If an ally of Blackbriar Thorn has used Smoke Cloud, can Blackbriar use Poison before removing the hindering terrain markers at the beginning of the next round?

If a character could use Smoke Cloud as a free action, could they place the Smoke Cloud markers first and then could Blackbriar Thorn use his Poison?

No. The markers will be removed from the map before the character can resolve effects during the "beginning of turn" phase. This would include the free action to use Poison.

Yes. The active player may resolve any effects that can be done during the "beginning of turn" phase in any order they choose.
