When firing a torpedo upgrade from the I.S.S Enterprise do you gain the +1 attack die bonus for having the ship target locked or do you spend the target lock before the gather attack dice step so its not there to grant the extra die?

When firing a torpedo upgrade from the I.S.S Enterprise do you gain the +1 attack die bonus for having the ship target locked or do you spend the target lock before the gather attack dice step so its not there to grant the extra die?

You choose which weapon you are firing during the Roll Attack Dice step of the Combat Phase. You may choose to add 1 attack die before choosing which weapon you are firing and then spend your target lock to fire a torpedo.
