Bursts + "Instead" clarification : [DC] Fist of Fury

Postby theallykat » Sat May 09, 2015 11:46 am

I would like to ask for clarification of use of the word "Instead".

Example:

Fists of Fury
DC Comics Basic Action Card
Deal 1 damage to target player.
;Dice5; Deal 2 damage to target player.
;Dice6; Deal 3 damage instead if that player has a villain in play.

I would like to have an official ruling on this card and how the keyword Instead functions when not defined in Bursts.

How much damage is dealt when I roll ;Dice4; ?
How much damage is dealt when I roll ;Dice5; against a non-Villain?
How much damage is dealt when I roll ;Dice6; against a Villain?

Editor's note: I made an edit to which die faces your example used, this is more in line with the Die Reference at the bottom of the card.

With no bursts, as the card states, 1 damage is dealt to target player.
With a single burst, 2 damage is dealt to target player.
With a double burst, you deal either 3 damage to a player (if they have an active Villain) or 1 damage to a player (if they have no active Villains).
