Blue Beetle says "While Blue Beetle is active, whenever a Villain is fielded, Blue Beetle does damage to an opposing player."

First question - is this each villain die fielded, or each unique villain? So if Joker is already active and my opponent fields another Joker, does Blue Beetle do damage or not? In general, I'm stuck a bit on how to interpret wording as referring to unique characters versus any instance of a character die that fits the target defined on a card.

Second question - it sounds like he triggers when both I and my opponent field Villains and the damage would always go to the opposing player. Is this correct?

1) Each time a Villain character die is fielded, Blue Beetle's ability goes off.
