Lich's Energy Drain

Postby tenlaven » Wed Feb 17, 2016 3:51 am

I have a question about each version of Lich from the new D&D set:
  • Lesser Undead: Energy Drain: x2 (Energy Drain allows Lich to spin down engaged character dice 1 level, and Lich may do this twice each Attack Step.)
Whenever this character die blocks or is blocked, spin engaged character down 2 levels and spin Lich up 2 levels.
  • Greater Undead: Energy Drain (Energy Drain allows Lich to spin down engaged character dice 1 level, and Lich may do this twice each Attack Step.)
While Lich is active, when you field an [Evil] Monster, reroll target opposing [Neutral] or [Good] character die. If it rolls an energy face, move it to the Used Pile.
  • Paragon Undead: Energy Drain
When fielded, remove 2 Experience tokens from each Adventurer card.

    1. The common Lich has an ability that seems to work like its Energy Drain. Is this intended to be used in addition to the Energy Drain effect (two 1-level spin downs, one 2-level spin down, and spin up Lich two levels), or does Energy Drain x2 enable Lich to use its second ability (does not spin down more than 2).
    2. Uncommon Lich has Energy Drain, but it does not have the x2 after it as the common version does, yet it specifies that it can be used twice per attack. Is there an error here?
    3. Rare Lich only has Energy Drain. If the common has x2, and the answer to my second question is that the uncommon should also be x2, should the rare Lich have the same?

1) Lich should spin down opposing engaged characters twice (or once if they can only be spun down once) and spin itself up twice.
2) Lich only has Energy Drain, the reminder text is incorrect - the word "twice" should be ignored. In cases of ambiguity like this, you should feel comfortable utilizing the Judge Guidance:

3) Lich only has Energy Drain.
