Do you HAVE to use 2 basic actions? or can i choose to use 1 or none

From the most recent rulebook, under the heading Play Variants:

TOURNAMENT TEAMS
For tournament competition, each player starts with 20 life and 20 dice.
For fun games, feel free to use 15 life and 15 dice instead. Each player
will choose two different Basic Action Cards and up to eight character
and/or action cards.

You may not choose more or less than 2 Basic Action Cards for tournament play. Some demo games may show fewer than 2 Basic Action Cards per player, but those are purely for demo purposes.
