Wave 4 - BORG SPHERE - Feedback Pulse

Postby karlbibby » Wed Nov 19, 2014 9:38 am

"When defending, before any dice are rolled, you may discard this card to declare that half of the damage from this attack will be cancelled and the other half will be assigned to the attacker(round down); you receive no damage. The attacking ship cannont receive critical damage from this effect. Place an Auxiliary Power Token beside your ship."

The combat phase (as confirmed in other posts) is :-

1. Declare Target
2. Roll Attack Dice - The attacking player rolls their attack dice
3. Modify Attack Dice - The players spend tokens to modify the attack dice
4. Roll Defense Dice - The defending player rolls their defense dice
5. Modify Defense Dice - The players spend tokens to modify the defense dice.
6. Compare Results
7. Deal Damage

When do you declare to use the feedback pulse?

The confusion is over "when defending" would indicate 4 where as "before any dice are rolled" would indicate 2.

Feedback pulse is delcared before ANY dice are rolled. So it would be used between steps 1 & 2. The attacker states who is attacking and who the target is and feedback pulse is declared before ANY dice are rolled.

Feedback pulse states "The attacking ship cannot receive critical damage from this effect."

Does this mean that the critical damage are not counted, or are critical damage converted into hits before cutting the attack in half to determine amount of damage an opponent will take?

Critical Hits are converted to hits.

Feedback pulse vs Thalaron Weapon

Postby tooze » Sun Dec 14, 2014 3:30 pm

This interaction came up today at an event and we were hoping for some clarification on how it works.

Does feedback pulse bounce the crew discard effect back? Does the thalaron weapon crew/captain discard come through first, then any damage beyond that (up to 5) is bounced back to the attacker?

Thalaron Weapon:
Attack: Discard this card to perform this Attack. Instead of inflicting normal damage, for each uncanceled hit or crit result, discard the Captain Card or 1 Crew Upgrade (opponent's choice) on the target ship. If the Captain and all of the Crew upgrades on the target ship are destroyed, any additional uncanceled hit or crit results damage that ship as normal (max 5 damage). This upgrade may only be purchased for a Reman Warbird

Feedback Pulse:
When defending, before any dice are rolled, you may discard this card to declare that half of the damage from this Attack will be cancelled and the other half will be assigned to the attacker (round down); you receive no damage. The attackig ship cannot receive critical damage from this effect. Place an Auxiliary Power Token beside your ship.

How would these two cards interact? Thanks!

The Thalaron Weapon's special effects would not be affected by Feedback Pulse. If the defender used Feedback pulse against a Thalaron attack. The attacker would roll attack dice. The defender would roll defense dice. The Thalaron Weapon would discard cards on the defender's ship and then any remaining damage would be cut in half and applied to the attacking ship.

Feedback Pulse vs Interphase Generator

Postby mattorium » Thu Jan 29, 2015 2:52 pm

How would FeedBack Pulse and Interphase Generator work.

Would you

Declare your target

have him say he is using FeedBack

Roll attack dice, find out damage, half it, then when the damage comes back at you can you Interphase it down to a single hit if your cloaked?

or would you not be considered defending from the damage because you skip your own defense step?

Interphase Generator
When defending while you are cloaked, you may discard this card after all the dice have been rolled to reduce the damage from a single attack to exactly 1 [hit].

When you take damage from Feedback Pulse you are not the defender and you could not discard Interphase Generator to reduce the damage.
