WizKids Games today announced that all players who register for the Marvel Dice Masters event at the 2014 WizKids Open will have the guaranteed opportunity to purchase a Marvel Avengers vs. X-Men Dice Masters Starter Set while at the event! But that’s not all! Wizkids is happy to partner with participating WizKids Open retailers to offer players a guaranteed opportunity to buy the Marvel Uncanny X-men Dice Masters Starter Set at their store during the event! That means registered players will get priority to purchase one copy of each of these starter sets (limit one per person).

WizKids Open HeroClix Nationals Qualifier Tournament
The WizKids Open Nationals Qualifier Event will be a Sealed Tournament consisting of 3 rounds of Swiss-style pairings followed by multiple single-elimination rounds. After the initial 3 rounds of Swiss pairings, the pool of players will be cut to the Top 32 players (or Top 16 players if 64 players or less in attendance). Players with at least 2 wins who were eliminated after the cut will be awarded a prize. The players who advance to the Top 32 (or Top 16) will continue to play through multiple single-elimination rounds (5 rounds for Top 32/4 rounds for Top 16)— these players will receive tiered prizes for each single-elimination round that they advance until a ultimate event winner is crowned. In addition to HeroClix product prizes received, the winner of the event will be granted a seat at the 2015 U.S. HeroClix Nationals Event (registration to convention, travel & accommodations not included).

WizKids Open HeroClix Battle Royales
16-players groups randomized to 4-player pods (or 8-player groups randomized to 4-player pods as demand necessitates) The WizKids Open Battle Royales will be a 4-player 1-pack Sealed Draft Format. Seating will be assigned after 16 players have signed up—then the 16 players will be divided into randomized pods of 4 players each. Players will draft the contents of their booster to form their teams—no point limit to teams built through the draft; limit of 3 actions per player’s turn. At the end of the game (game duration approximately 45 minutes), players determine standings based on number of points KO’ed from other players. Players will then place all figures and elements from their booster packs into the center of the map and a 2014 Limited Edition HeroClix Convention Prize figure will be added to form a prize pool. Players will then conduct a snake draft in order from winner to the last place player (reversing order— first to last; last to first— until all elements have been chosen).

The WizKids Open Marvel Dice Masters Rainbow Drafts will be an 8-player mini-tournament utilizing booster packs from the upcoming Marvel Dice Masters: Uncanny X-Men set. Each player should come to the event with 8 Sidekick Dice, 12 Basic Action Dice, 4 Indicator Cards, and 2 Basic Action Cards (players may choose which Basic Action Cards they’d like to use after completing the draft, but must use the same 2 throughout the event).
